LaRue C. Sports Performance & Medical Exercise, Post-Rehab Trainer

Alexandria, Virginia

I am an experienced Fitness Professional with a combined professional experience of over 27 years in fitness, management and law.  I hold a BS degree in Health Science, Masters in Healthcare Administration, and a Juris Doctor in Law.  I have dedicated my fitness career to helping fitness clients (both private individuals and corporate fitness and sports organizations) develop safe and effective fitness programs to improve their quality of life or that of their constituents, since 1993.  Through the years, I’ve worked in every aspect of the fitness industry including management, hands-on personal training, program development and design, sports performance, post-rehab/injury prevention, medical exercise, and corporate wellness.  My direct fitness client deliverables have included: Wellness and Personal Training consultations; Corporate Wellness Program design and administration; Wellness seminars, lunch-and-learns, presentations; Fitness Center management and staffing; Fitness Center design and planning; telephonic and online exercise programming and consultations; and other fitness related services such as healthy newsletters, fitness assessments and wellness events. I have provided fitness business related consults to some of the leading Medical Care Providers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area on providing Wellness and Fitness Training services to their patients, and I’ve provided direct medical exercise training to many of those providers’ patients on referral.  In addition, I’ve consulted with Country Clubs on ways to improve their member services and programs, while increasing their revenues by offering both General Fitness and Specialty Training Programs such as Golf Fitness and Tennis Strength and Conditioning.

In 2016, I was honored by being one of only ten Certified Fitness Professionals world-wide selected by the Exercise is Medicine Program™ (a joint-initiative of the American Medical Association and the American College of Sports Medicine) as a fitness professional who has successfully forged a working relationship with Medical Professionals and their patients. In 2005, I was appointed as a member of the Board of Examiners for the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) – one of only two Certified Personal Trainers in the U.S. selected for this honor. I have also served on the Board of the Florida High School Tennis Coaches Association as that organization’s expert on Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science and Injury Prevention. I’ve served on a County Subcommittee on Childhood Obesity to help young people stem the tide of this epidemic.

I enjoy research and writing, and have contributed published pieces to a number of national fitness and sports publications and organizations including: the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the International Sports Sciences Association, ESPN.com, and the International Tennis Performance Association on subjects including strength and conditioning, sports performance, injury prevention, program design and development, corporate wellness programming and more.

My training clients have included:  Physicians, including the former Medical Director for the U.S. Postal Service, Business Executives, Attorneys, Athletes of all ages and all sports, those dealing with physical challenges, Federal Government officials, Stay-at-Home moms and children.  I absolutely love what I do and am an enthusiastic supporter of anyone looking to forge a career or business in the fitness industry.
